Corruption in Ukraine is unacceptable, especially during a full-scale war. The government will prepare a comprehensive decision to address this issue, according to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Svyrydenko recalled that after the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) exposed a criminal organization taking kickbacks from Energoatom's contractors, several important decisions were made.

In particular, the Cabinet proposed that Parliament dismiss Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk. The government also initiated sanctions against two individuals involved in the scheme.

At the same time, Energoatom is undergoing a relaunch, with its leadership suspended and an audit of the company underway.

"We are preparing a comprehensive decision regarding all state-owned companies, including those in the energy sector. We are conducting audits and have instructed supervisory boards to check operations, especially in the area of procurement," the Prime Minister added.

NABU investigation

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau discovered that a group of officials demanded bribes from Energoatom’s contractors to maintain their supplier status.

In response, the Ukrainian government decided to dissolve Energoatom's supervisory board. A new board will be formed to appoint new leadership and conduct an audit.

The Cabinet also decided to suspend Energoatom’s Vice President, Jakob Hartmut, from his position.
