Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha responded to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's anti-Ukrainian statement regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU in his post on X.
"This plan is doomed to fail, Mr. Prime Minister. Your master in Moscow won’t last 100 years, even if you were ready to donate him all organs. And on the day Ukraine joins the EU, we will frame this headline in Parliament to remember your lies for the next 100 years," Sybiha wrote.
What preceded it
Earlier today, January 23, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said he sees no possibility of Ukraine joining the European Union in the foreseeable future. He suggested that in Hungary, there would be no parliament "in the next 100 years" that would vote in favor of Ukraine’s accession.
In addition, Orbán accused the Ukrainian authorities of attempting to destabilize his government, claiming that Kyiv is interested in changing Hungary’s political leadership to one more loyal to it.
Other statements by Orbán
Previously, Orbán said he expects the war in Ukraine to end by 2027. In his view, sanctions against Russia would then be lifted, as EU's plans to ban Russian oil and gas are harmful to Hungary.
He also called on citizens to support his Fidesz party in the 2026 parliamentary elections, saying this was necessary to ensure that Hungary "does not get dragged into a war."
Orbán believes the United States could "make peace" with Russia in 2026, bypassing both Ukraine and Europe. The Hungarian Prime Minister said his country plans to benefit significantly from the normalization of US-Russia relations.
Orbán recently sparked controversy by comparing EU leaders to Third Reich dictator Adolf Hitler and French Emperor Napoleon.
