The Houthis plan to resume missile and drone strikes on shipping routes in the Red Sea. They also intend to launch missile attacks against Israel.
A senior Houthi official told reporters that as early as the evening of February 28, a series of strikes on Israel and vessels in the Red Sea could begin. The reason cited was the US and Israeli operation against Iran.
The media outlet recalled that the Houthis had stopped attacking ships in the waters after reaching an agreement with the administration of US President Donald Trump. The Houthis halted their attacks, while the United States stopped striking Yemen. Since October 2025, the Houthis had also ceased attacks on Israel.
US, Israeli operation against Iran
On the morning of February 28, numerous explosions were heard across Iran. Initially, it was reported that Israel carried out a preemptive strike on Iran, but it later became known that it was a large-scale joint operation involving the US.
In particular, US President Donald Trump said that the US had launched a military campaign in Iran to eliminate threats posed by the current regime.
The targets of the Israeli and US strikes in Iran included Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian, and other top officials. In response, Iran launched missiles toward Israeli territory. Tehran also struck US military facilities in Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
