The United States has launched a military campaign in Iran to eliminate threats from the current regime. The main objective of the operation has been the protection of the American people and allies, says US President Donald Trump on Truth Social.

Reasons for the military operation

According to the American leader, the decision to launch the campaign was driven by the need to eliminate “imminent threats” originating from the Iranian regime. Trump called the country’s leadership “a vicious group of very hard, terrible people” whose activities pose a direct danger to the United States, “our troops, our bases overseas and our allies throughout the world.”

“It's menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas and our allies throughout the world,” the president emphasized in an eight-minute address.

Accusations against Tehran

Trump noted that for 47 years, the Iranian regime had conducted a campaign of bloodshed and mass killings. According to him, American servicemen and innocent people in many countries had regularly become targets of Tehran.

“It's been mass terror. And we're not going to put up with it any longer,” the American president said, recalling previous Iranian attacks against Americans.

He also recalled that the Iranian authorities had used hostile rhetoric toward Washington for decades, which ultimately led to the current military response.

“Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime, a vicious group of very hard, terrible people,” Trump added.

Trump also called on the people of Iran to take power into their own hands after the operation is completed.

“This will be probably your only chance for generations. For many years, you have asked for America's help, but you never got it,” the American leader said, addressing Iranians.

Strikes on Iran

Relations between Washington and Tehran have remained tense for a long time due to Iran’s nuclear program and its support for radical groups in the Middle East. Earlier, the United States repeatedly imposed tough economic sanctions against Iran, trying to limit its influence in the region.

On the morning of February 28, Israel carried out a preventive strike on Iran to eliminate security threats.

Later, it became known that the attack on Iran was a joint operation of Israel and the United States.
