Ukraine awaits Russia’s verdict on critical stopping air attacks

Ukraine is awaiting Russia’s response regarding a possible ceasefire in the air during diplomatic meetings, according to a source in the Office of the President.
According to the source, the discussion specifically concerned a ceasefire in the air - meaning the American side was expected to discuss this issue with the Russians.
The source explained that this was an established practice during diplomatic meetings, under which neither side would strike the other within certain geographical and time frames.
The Office of the President emphasized that it will become known within the night what specific response Russia gave to the US regarding this proposal.
Earlier, on September 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Trump’s envoys would arrive in Kyiv on Sunday, September 6. According to the president, as during previous visits by the American side, Ukraine would ensure the normal functioning of Russian airspace during this period to guarantee the safety of US officials - and Russia must reciprocally refrain from strikes.
Zelenskyy explained that there would be no air strikes from Ukraine’s side and that Russia would have to reciprocally ensure a halt to air strikes for as long as necessary to conduct the negotiations and resolve logistical issues related to the American visit.
However, this visit had been planned since spring. The president stated back in May that he expected Witkoff and Kushner to arrive around the turn of spring and summer, but the American envoys never came to Kyiv at that time. The next attempt was planned for Ukraine’s Independence Day, but it also fell through - according to media reports, the trip was postponed due to renewed Russian strikes on the country.
