Witkoff and Kushner postpone Kyiv trip over Russian strikes, media report

A planned visit to Ukraine by US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner has been postponed again. The trip has not been canceled, but its timing has changed amid intensified Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, according to Radio Svoboda journalist Alex Raufoglu.
According to his information, the postponement was prompted by intensified Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv last week.
Raufoglu stressed that the visit has not been canceled, but merely postponed.
"Sources tell me the highly anticipated Witkoff-Kushner trip to Ukraine has been “slightly delayed, not cancelled” — due to last week's intensified missile and drone strikes on Kyiv," the journalist wrote.
The journalist also noted that six European leaders arrived in Kyiv on August 23. Representatives of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Norway and Finland visited Ukraine.
The new dates for Witkoff and Kushner's visit are expected to be announced separately.
After Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's productive meeting with US President Donald Trump, Trump's negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected to potentially visit Ukraine in the coming weeks. Ukraine's Independence Day had been considered the most likely date for the diplomatic mission.
The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also congratulated Ukraine on its 35th anniversary of independence, stressing that Washington remains committed to respecting and supporting Ukrainian sovereignty.
