In the video, a Chinese citizen is asked whether he directly participated in combat activities on Ukrainian territory. One of them responded that he was captured during his first combat mission and had not participated in any battles prior to that. He also stated that he had never held a weapon before.

Another captive shared that he is 34 years old and comes from Henan Province. According to him, the three of them surrendered — two Chinese citizens and one Russian. There were also two other Chinese individuals, but they got lost on the battlefield.

Moreover, according to him, he was rescued by Ukrainian soldiers. After they had surrendered, they came under Russian fire — the Russian military dropped an explosive with gas on their shelter. At that moment, a Ukrainian soldier ran over and pulled him out.

Ukrainian forces capture Chinese citizens as prisoners of war

Yesterday, it was reported that soldiers from the 81st Separate Air Assault Slobozhansk Brigade of the Ukrainian Airborne Forces captured two Chinese nationals in one of the directions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared a video featuring the prisoners.

In light of these events, Ukraine summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of China over the involvement of Chinese citizens in the war on Russia's side. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it was "verifying the situation" with Ukraine.

The US State Department reacted sharply to the capture of Chinese soldiers by the Ukrainian forces, stating that China is one of Russia's main enablers.

"We are aware of those reports that Ukraine captured two Chinese citizens fighting on behalf of Russia in Ukraine. China is a major enabler of Russia in the war in Ukraine," said State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

Today, RBC-Ukraine, citing sources in the intelligence services, reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has already interrogated the captured Chinese nationals and revealed their names.

According to Zelenskyy, China was aware of its citizens' involvement in the war against Ukraine on the side of the Russian Federation.
