Two of them were captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Today, it became known that the Security Service of Ukraine had already conducted the first interrogation of the prisoners and learned their names:

  • Citizen of the People's Republic of China Wang Guangjun, (Chinese name: 王广军), born in 1991;

  • Citizen of the People's Republic of China Zhang Renbo, (Chinese name: 张仁波), born in 1998.

Ukrainian Armed Forces captured Chinese citizens

Yesterday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared a video featuring the Chinese prisoners, who were captured at one of the frontlines. According to him, they were taken near the settlements of Tarasivka and Bilohorivka. The operation to capture the Chinese citizens was carried out by the soldiers of the 81st Separate Airborne Slobozhansk Brigade of the Airborne Forces.

"There are documents, their passports, and even credit cards. These are citizens of China. I think this is a very important element. I believe the US needs to pay more attention to what is happening today," said the president.

According to Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of China over the involvement of Chinese citizens in the war on the side of Russia.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, stated that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently "verifying the situation" with Ukraine.
