China’s involvement in Ukraine war: Foreign Ministry summons Chinese Charge d'Affaires

Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of China because of the participation of Chinese citizens in the war on the side of Russia, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
He emphasized that Ukraine strongly condemns the engagement of Chinese citizens by Russia in the war and their participation in combat operations.
"We summoned the Charge d'Affaires of China in Ukraine to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to condemn this fact and demand explanations," he said.
According to the Minister, the participation of Chinese nationals in the war against Ukraine casts doubt on China’s stance on peace and undermines trust in Beijing as a responsible permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Ukrainian forces capture Chinese soldiers
On April 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Ukrainian forces had captured two Chinese citizens fighting for Russia in the Donetsk region.
The President added that there were likely many more Chinese nationals fighting against Ukraine.
Later, he clarified that Ukrainian defenders had clashed with six Chinese soldiers, only two of whom were captured.
Zelenskyy pointed out that this situation confirms that another country is militarily supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
