US State Department responds harshly to Chinese soldiers captured by Ukrainian forces

The United States is aware that Ukraine has captured two Chinese soldiers. China is one of Russia's key enablers, said US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
"It's disturbing with North Korea participating, it's disturbing with the Chinese soldiers, having been captured. We are aware of those reports that Ukraine captured two Chinese citizens fighting on behalf of Russia in Ukraine. China is a major enabler of Russia in the war in Ukraine," she said.
Bruce noted that China supplies Russia with nearly 80 percent of the dual-use goods necessary for it to conduct the war.
The State Department spokesperson reminded of US President Donald Trump's words that cooperation between China and Russia "will only further contribute to global instability and make the United States and other countries less safe, less secure, and less prosperous."
Chinese soldiers captured by Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that during combat in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian soldiers captured two Chinese nationals. There are documents confirming this fact. The President also shared a video featuring the new prisoners.
Zelenskyy clarified that the Ukrainian Armed Forces engaged in a fight with a group of six Chinese soldiers, but only two were taken prisoner.
Chinese officials have yet to respond to these reports. Meanwhile, Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Chinese chargé d'affaires to explain how Chinese nationals got involved in the war against Ukraine.
