A choice between common sense and the left

According to the outlet, during a closed-door breakfast with delegates and officials at the Republican Party convention in Dallas, Vance said the 2026 elections would force the country to make a stark choice.

He said Americans would have to choose between Republicans who represent common sense and "crazy people" on the left.

"We’ve got to nationalize this election, we’ve got to talk about all the crazy things Democrats are doing," Vance said.

He also warned that if Democrats regain control of Congress, they would undo the party’s economic gains and tax cuts and "bury the American people in investigations and bullshit for the next two years."

Measures to lower drug prices

Vance also focused on actions taken by US President Donald Trump’s administration to lower prescription drug prices. He described the policy as the initiative with the strongest support among voters.

The politician also highlighted the party’s achievements for working-class Americans but did not mention Trump’s proposal to provide citizens with $5,000 dividend payments.

Later, however, he defended the proposal on Fox News, saying the payments could have income limits.

Hint at a presidential run

Participants at the closed-door meeting greeted the vice president with chants of "48," hinting at his potential future as the 48th president of the United States.

Vance himself avoided any comments about his plans for the 2028 presidential race.

The Republican Party convention is taking place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The day before, Donald Trump addressed participants with a nearly two-hour speech focused on border security and other key issues on the MAGA movement’s agenda.

Could Vance succeed Trump?

Rumors that JD Vance could succeed Donald Trump as the Republican presidential candidate in the 2028 election have been circulating for some time.

Earlier, Trump himself commented for the first time on new rumors about whether Vance would become his successor. The US president stressed that it was still too early to discuss potential candidates for the presidency.

At the same time, Trump continues to prepare the party for the US midterm elections.

In particular, the president has promised to pay $5,000 to every American if Republicans win.

If the party retains control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, the payments would cost the US government more than $1 trillion.
