Has Trump picked his successor? President responds to reports about Vance

It is still too early to discuss potential candidates for US president, White House chief Donald Trump said, according to the New York Post.
The American leader effectively denied the recent media reports for the first time. They claimed that he had privately told Republican Party donors that he supported Vice President JD Vance as a candidate in the 2028 presidential election.
Journalists asked the White House chief whether he had actually said anything like that to his allies. The American leader gave a clear answer: "No."
"I heard about it a little while ago. I think he's (Vance - ed.) great, but we're way too early to even be thinking about that," Trump added.
At the same time, many of the US president's advisers and allies were skeptical of the reports. They explained that the White House chief often tells different people different things, so they are not sure that he has actually already chosen Vance as his successor.
Recently, the US vice president jokingly commented on discussions about the 2028 election. He humorously suggested that Trump might use his experience as the host of "The Apprentice" and hold a kind of public competition before deciding whom to support.
The American leader has previously stated on several occasions that he considers JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio among his possible successors.
Trump also recently spoke about US preparations for the largest attack since World War II.
