Trump says US was ready for biggest attack on Iran since World War II

US President Donald Trump stated that the United States was preparing what could have been its largest military strike on Iran since World War II. However, the operation was ultimately called off, according to The Economic Times.
According to Trump, "Iran now respected the United States."
At the same time, he said the United States has had to "knock all the hell" out of the Iranian regime.
Trump added that he would prefer to reach a deal with Tehran because he does not want innocent people to die.
"We are knocking the hell out of them. I would rather make a deal, because I do not want to kill people. At the same point, we were set for the biggest attack, of inner attack, and we hit them very hard for the last few months. But we were set for the biggest attack since World War II," Trump said.
According to the US president, the operation was canceled after Iranian officials personally called him and asked that the attack not be carried out.
"They called me, and they said, ‘Please don't do it. Let's talk.’ Then they said we never said that. You know what the fake news knows. They did say that, but we are talking. Let's see what happens," Trump claimed.
The US president also said that talks with Tehran are continuing, although he does not know how events will unfold.
Recently, Iran threatened to target Gulf countries if the United States resumes military strikes in the Middle East.
