US Secretary of State announces over $700 million in aid for Ukraine
The United States will provide financial support to Ukraine. This time, the amount of aid will be more than $700 million, announced US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his visit to Kyiv.
According to Blinken, part of the aid will be used to strengthen the energy system, which has been repeatedly hit by Russia ahead of the expected harsh winter.
In total, the $325 million in energy support will help:
- repair and restore Ukraine's power generating facilities,
- provide backup power in emergency situations,
- strengthen the physical security of the energy infrastructure.
Additionally, about $290 million will fund programs for food, water, housing, healthcare, and education for Ukrainians in need within the country and for refugees abroad.
The rest of the aid, which amounts to $102 million, will be used for demining.
On September 11, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and his American counterpart, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, arrived in Kyiv together.
On Friday, September 6, the United States announced a new military aid package for Ukraine. It amounts to $250 million.
