The Ukrainian defense forces successfully struck Russia’s oil refining and defense industries during the night of Saturday, August 2, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The Ukrainian defense forces carried out successful strikes on verified Russian targets involved in supporting armed aggression against our state. The attack was a response to recent terrorist shelling by Russia of Ukrainian cities, which caused civilian deaths and injuries," the General Staff said.

Confirmed hits include facilities in Russia’s oil refining sector — the Ryazan and Novokuybyshevsk oil refineries. The drones also successfully attacked the Anna Nefteproduct fuel and lubricants base in the Voronezh region.

Additionally, the enterprise PJSC Penza Production Association Elektroprylad, which specializes in producing secure telecommunications systems, cryptographic communication devices, and printed circuit boards for military equipment, was hit.

"Numerous explosions and fires have been recorded on the territory of these facilities. More detailed information regarding the consequences of the attacks is being clarified," the statement said.

The operation was carried out by units of the UAV Forces, Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Security Service of Ukraine, in coordination with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"Systematic and targeted strikes on facilities supporting the enemy’s army will continue until the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine ceases completely. The defense forces are taking all lawful measures to stop the genocide of our people, which the Moscow regime is deliberately carrying out today," the General Staff noted.
