New aid for Ukraine following the Ramstein meeting
Today in Germany, the 24th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format took place. It was attended by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During the opening of the Ramstein meeting, the head of state called on partners to deliver defense packages in a timely manner and grant permission for long-range capabilities.
In turn, the allies announced new military support for Ukraine following the meeting. The United Kingdom pledged to supply Kyiv with 650 multipurpose missiles (LMM) to enhance air defense capabilities.
Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands plan to provide Ukrainian forces with an additional 77 Leopard 1A5 tanks. Additionally, Berlin will separately deliver 12 Panzerhaubitz 2000 howitzers to Kyiv, valued at 150 million euros: 6 this year and another 6 next year.
Canada, for its part, will provide a large batch of engines for unguided air-to-surface missiles and 1,300 warheads for them.
Support from the USA
It should be noted that among allies, the USA is a leader in supporting Ukraine. The last time President Joe Biden announced a new military aid package for Kyiv was on August 23, the day before Ukraine's Independence Day.
That package included: air defense missiles to protect Ukraine's critical infrastructure, equipment for countering drones, anti-tank missiles for battlefield defense, ammunition, and more.
