Germany will provide Ukraine with an additional 12 Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers. Berlin, along with other partners, will also supply Ukrainian forces with 77 Leopard 1A5 tanks, according to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

Pistorius announced the provision of equipment at the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format on September 6.

According to him, Germany will transfer 12 Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers to Ukraine at a cost of 150 million euros. Six units will be sent to Ukraine this year, and another six in 2025.

Pistorius also said that Germany, together with other European partners, is preparing to deliver 77 Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks to the Ukrainian army, emphasizing that the allies "want to do this as quickly as possible."

The Leopard 1A5 tanks will be transferred to Ukraine by Germany in cooperation with Denmark and the Netherlands.

Today, on September 6, the 24th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group is taking place at the Ramstein military base in Germany. The meeting is attended by defense ministers from over 50 countries, led by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

This time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also present at Ramstein. According to Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Ukraine's priorities include air defense systems, missiles for them, ammunition, equipment, and strengthening long-range capabilities.

At the meeting, the Pentagon chief announced a new US military aid package for Ukraine worth 250 million euros.
