Zelenskyy arrives at Ramstein meeting
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrives in Germany to attend a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense at Ramstein Air Base. After that, he plans to visit Italy.
"We need the determination of our partners and the means to stop Russian air terror. We need all the weapons from the already announced support packages to finally reach the combat brigades. And we need strong, long-range decisions from our partners to bring the just peace we seek closer," the President says.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy said he would:
- personally participate in the meeting;
- meet with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius;
- hold talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Visit to Italy
According to the President, he will then travel to Italy to take part in the Ambrosetti International Economic Forum and meet with Italian business representatives.
In particular, he will talk to the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni.
"We are coordinating our positions with all G7 allies," he adds.
Background
Earlier, German media reported that on September 6, the President of Ukraine would personally attend the next meeting in the Ramstein format.
According to Spiegel, Zelenskyy plans to ask his partners for further supplies of long-range weapons and air defense systems.
On September 6, Zelenskyy and Scholz are expected to meet in Frankfurt.
