Trump: Putin wants all of Ukraine, but won’t get it easily

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to seize all of Ukraine, but it will be difficult for him. This was stated by US President Donald Trump in an interview on the Finnerty program.
According to Trump, the United States will impose sanctions on Russia; however, Putin already knows how to bypass and evade them. Trump also expressed surprise, saying "we had numerous good conversations where we could have ended this thing, and all of a sudden bombs start flying."
"He's obviously a tough cookie, so it hasn't changed in that way. I thought we had it worked out three different times, and maybe he wants to try and take the whole thing (Ukraine - ed.). I think it's going to be very hard for him," Trump said.
Trump's ultimatum
In July, Donald Trump sharply condemned the Kremlin's actions amid the intense shelling of Ukraine and gave Putin 50 days to achieve peace. If negotiations failed, he threatened sanctions against countries purchasing Russian oil, as well as new restrictions against Russia itself.
However, on July 29, Trump unexpectedly shortened the deadline to 10 days, setting a new deadline for August 8, citing a lack of progress.
In response, the Kremlin announced its intention to continue the full-scale war and threatened the United States with a nuclear strike. Despite this, on July 31, Trump announced that US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff would travel to Moscow — likely to seek a diplomatic solution.
Military expert Mykhailo Samus told RBC-Ukraine that Witkoff's trip to Moscow could become the last contact between the US president and Putin.
