Kremlin Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia has developed "a certain immunity" to sanctions and is prepared for new economic restrictions.

"We've been living under a huge number of sanctions for quite a long time. Our economy has been functioning under a massive amount of restrictions. Naturally, we've already developed a certain immunity to this," Peskov noted.

The Presidential Press Secretary also added that Russia is monitoring the statements coming from US President Donald Trump and other international representatives on the matter.

Trump's ultimatum for Putin

Earlier this month, President Trump set a 50-day deadline for Russian leader Vladimir Putin. During this time, Putin is expected to agree to end the war against Ukraine.

If the Kremlin does not move toward peace, Trump threatened to impose sanctions on countries that purchase Russian oil and thereby fund Moscow's aggressive war.

However, on July 29, the White House head shortened the deadline for a peace agreement to 10 days due to Russia's lack of progress.

In addition, Trump warned that Russia would face not only secondary tariffs on the export of goods and services to the US, but also secondary sanctions.

In response, according to the American Institute for the Study of War, Kremlin officials are trying to pressure the US President into abandoning the 10-day deadline for ending the war in Ukraine and normalizing relations with Moscow.
