The United States plans to take part in providing security guarantees for Ukraine. Washington is offering assistance with intelligence and the protection of Ukraine's airspace, reports the Financial Times.

Unnamed sources told the publication that American officials last week promised Europeans to take part in the "co-ordination" of security guarantees for Ukraine after the end of the war with Russia.

In particular, US officials declared readiness to provide "strategic enablers," including intelligence and surveillance, to engage in command and control, as well as to assist with air defense systems to support any European mission in Ukraine.

Officials clarified that postwar support would involve the participation of American aircraft, logistics, and ground radars to support the European mission and Ukraine's air defense system.

According to FT, the United States would be able to use its intelligence, surveillance, and command resources for satellite monitoring of the ceasefire and the coordinated work of Western forces on Ukrainian territory.

Officials also warned that the implementation of such a proposal depends on commitments from European capitals to deploy tens of thousands of troops in Ukraine. According to them, the proposal may still be withdrawn.

At the Pentagon, commenting on such reports, officials told the publication that the measures are "pre-decisional, and the Defense Department will not comment on pre-decisional topics."

Security guarantees for Ukraine

Earlier, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt did not rule out that the United States could provide Ukraine with air support as part of security guarantees.

She clarified that US President Donald Trump excludes only the presence of American soldiers in Ukraine.

At the same time, Trump himself, on August 25, promised that the United States would take part in providing security guarantees for Ukraine in terms of support.
