The United States is ignoring convincing evidence that Russia is helping Iran carry out strikes on United States bases in the Middle East because they "trust" Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, The Guardian reports.
Zelenskyy noted that he tried to draw the attention of the White House to the close cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.
He said that Russian military satellites photographed critical energy infrastructure facilities in the countries of the Persian Gulf and in Israel, as well as the locations of United States military bases in the region.
According to the president, the Kremlin passed this data and images to the Iranian regime to facilitate its attacks.
"I said this publicly. Did we hear a reaction from the US to Russia that they have to stop it? The problem is they trust Putin. And it's a pity," Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian leader added that the team of United States President Donald Trump failed to "really understand the details of what Russia wants."
When Zelenskyy was asked why this happened, he replied that two negotiators of the United States president, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, "spent too much time" with Putin and his senior officials.
Russia helps Iran
In early March, The Washington Post reported that Russia was passing information about the locations of United States military facilities in the Middle East to Iran.
In Washington, they initially tried to downplay these reports, stating that this supposedly does not affect the situation, as Iranian forces had already been defeated.
At the same time, United States presidential envoy Steve Witkoff said that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a conversation with Donald Trump, denied such accusations.
Later, Trump himself suggested that Russia is helping a little with Iran.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia had transferred drones and information about United States military bases to Iran.
Zelenskyy also said that Russia tried to blackmail the United States by offering to stop intelligence sharing with Iran in exchange for stopping the transfer of United States intelligence information to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president also stated that Russia transferred satellite intelligence data about Israel's energy system to Iran. According to him, it concerns approximately 50 to 53 civilian facilities.
