US President Donald Trump acknowledged that Russian leader Vladimir Putin may be helping Iran “a little bit.” But he justified it by pointing to the war in Ukraine, reports the Associated Press.

“I think he might be helping them a little bit, yeah, I guess. And he probably thinks we’re helping Ukraine, right?” Trump said.

His comments came after US intelligence reported that Russia had provided Iran with information that could help Tehran strike US military ships, aircraft, and other facilities in the region.

When pressed by journalists, the American president acknowledged that the United States is also helping Ukraine.

“Yeah, we’re helping them also. And so he (Putin - ed.) says that, and China would say the same thing, you know. It’s like, hey, they do it and we do it in all fairness,” Trump added.

Russia helping Iran

Russia’s role in conflicts in the Middle East and Europe is becoming increasingly active. British intelligence is investigating a possible Kremlin trace in the incident involving drones that attacked a British carrier strike group.

Moscow stated that Russia is not a neutral party, supports Iran in the conflict with Israel, and considers the actions of Western countries in this situation unfair.

Meanwhile, Iran officially confirmed its close partnership with Russia and rejected the possibility of a ceasefire with Israel.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Moscow used drones with Iranian components to attack the country.

Now, Iran is receiving Russian components, allowing Tehran to attack other countries in the Middle East and US bases.

According to Zelenskyy, Moscow is not only actively supporting Tehran with drones and air defense systems but may also send its troops to Iran.
