Russia officially backs Iran in its conflict with Israel and considers the actions of Western countries in the situation unfair, according to Russia's ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrey Kelin, cited by Sky News.
Russia's stance
Ambassador Kelin emphasized that Russia is "not neutral" concerning the war involving Iran. According to him, Moscow stands in solidarity with Tehran and strongly condemns the opposing side's actions.
The diplomat noted that the Western narrative, which portrays Iran as solely responsible, is flawed.
"No one is saying that US and Israel has initiated an attack against Iran. And Iran is only responding to this attack. This is simply unfair," the official said.
Ways to resolve situation
According to the Russian representative, the optimal scenario would be an immediate ceasefire.
Kelin stressed the need to return to diplomatic channels and seek a peaceful solution through negotiations.
Situation around Iran
The situation in the Middle East remains extremely tense.
Earlier, the media reported on why even a large-scale war is unlikely to quickly topple the Iranian leadership. The outlets also covered internal processes within the country following the appointment of Khamenei's son as a potential successor.
Experts have also discussed whether the region could face "another Iraq" and why expectations for a quick, decisive war might not be realistic.
Additionally, amid escalating tensions, Donald Trump has already warned of serious consequences for the Iranian regime, promising its complete destruction should Tehran take further aggressive actions.
