Russia kills 7 people in targeted strike on Kyiv rail depot

Overnight, Russia launched a targeted ballistic strike on a railway depot and other railway facilities in Kyiv. As a result of the attack, seven people were killed, six of whom were employees of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), according to a Facebook post by Ukrzaliznytsia head Oleksandr Pertsovskyi.
According to Pertsovskyi, Russian forces deliberately targeted the railway depot and other railway facilities in Kyiv with a ballistic missile. The strike killed seven people, six of whom were Ukrzaliznytsia employees.
Another colleague remains in the hospital with injuries and is receiving all necessary medical care.
Dozens of employees managed to reach shelters in time and are now receiving support to recover from the ordeal. The company head reported extensive destruction: a workshop near the depot was completely destroyed, and rescue workers are still extinguishing several fires.
Rail traffic was temporarily suspended on two sections due to the strike but has since been restored.
"All of this is nothing compared to the devastating loss of our colleagues," Pertsovskyi wrote, adding that the company is contacting the families of the deceased and supporting them during this difficult time.
Recently, Ukrzaliznytsia has been preparing changes to station operations - the company is developing solutions to ensure stable train schedules during prolonged air raid alerts. Meanwhile, on August 28, trains operated with delays for the second consecutive day, with some delays exceeding 15 hours.
