The US contribution to security guarantees for Ukraine will be determined in the coming weeks. This was agreed upon with US leader Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron said this during a press conference following the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris.

"We spoke with the President of the United States. The conclusions are as follows: in the coming weeks, we will clearly define what the US contribution to this coalition will be and finalize it. The contributions of European countries, the Asia-Pacific region, and Canada have also been determined. We have defined primary and secondary commitments to end the war," Macron said.

According to him, all of this was agreed with Trump today.

The French president noted that there will be further contacts between the Americans and the Russians, and "all signals must turn into reality."

"We will continue this work on security guarantees. In the coming days, we will coordinate and finalize everything with the US; this will involve security monitoring, and we will also need to work on political texts," he added.

In other words, as Macron explained, this means preparing a treaty for sustainable peace and a series of bilateral agreements to support Ukraine.

Security guarantees for Ukraine

On August 18, a meeting took place at the White House between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and European leaders. The allies discussed security guarantees for Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined three key blocks of security guarantees for Ukraine: maintaining the army, cooperation with NATO countries, and sanctions against Russia.

He also emphasized that Ukraine needs legally binding security guarantees from key European countries and the United States, not another Budapest Memorandum.

Today, September 4, leaders of several European countries met in Paris to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine.

After the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that a political and military proposal to provide Ukraine with security guarantees, coming from 35 leaders, is currently on the table.

At the same time, it should be noted that US President Donald Trump previously publicly assured that Europe would provide "significant" guarantees, and the US would support these commitments.
