On the night of December 4, Ukrainian forces struck an industrial facility in Russia's Stavropol region that operates as part of the Russian military-industrial complex. The target was the Nevinnomyssk Azot plant, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"As part of efforts to reduce the enemy's offensive potential and its ability to conduct missile and bomb strikes, on the night of December 4, units of Ukraine's Defense Forces struck one of the aggressor's largest chemical enterprises — Nevinnomyssk Azot in Russia's Stavropol region," the statement said.
The plant is a critically important component of Russia's military-industrial complex. It produces over 1 million tons of ammonia and up to 1.4 million tons of ammonium nitrate annually, making it one of the key suppliers of base components for explosives production.
"One of the production workshops was hit, and a fire at the site was confirmed," the General Staff added.
In addition to the plant, Ukrainian forces confirmed striking Russian personnel at a training ground near Dokuchaievsk in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region. Russia lost up to 60 troops killed and wounded.
"The Defense Forces continue taking all measures to undermine the military and economic potential of the Russian occupiers and force the Russian Federation to end its armed aggression against Ukraine," the General Staff concluded.
On the night of December 4, Russia reported explosions in the city of Oryol and in the Stavropol Krai. In one city, drones attacked a major chemical plant — Nevinnomyssk Azot.
Earlier, on the evening of December 3, a blackout occurred in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region following drone strikes on Donetsk and Makiivka. The previous blackout in the occupied part of the Donetsk region happened on November 22, also due to an attack by unknown drones.
