The Russians have already shelled the Ostrivskyi Bridge in the Korabel neighborhood of Kherson twice. However, there are no Russian troops currently willing to attempt a crossing of the Dnipro, according to the spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, in a comment to Suspilne.

He noted that on Sunday, August 3, the enemy carried out an airstrike on the bridge in Kherson. However, until a special commission completes its work, the military cannot confirm what type of munition the Russians used.

"According to our intelligence, there are no Russian troops currently prepared to cross the Dnipro by boat to storm Kherson," the spokesperson said.

Earlier, in a national telethon broadcast, Voloshyn stated that the bridge attacked by Russian forces primarily served as a transportation link for local residents. There were no military facilities nearby.

According to him, the number of assault actions along the Dnipro River front has increased in recent weeks.

"Every day we record seven to eight combat clashes in the area of the islands and the Antonivskyi railway bridge. Russian soldiers are regrouping and actively trying to seize footholds on the islands. At the same time, they are shelling the entire right bank with drones and artillery," Voloshyn explained.

Strikes on the bridge in Kherson

As a reminder, on Saturday, August 2, Russian forces dropped aerial bombs on the bridge in the Korabel neighborhood of Kherson. The enemy airstrike disrupted logistics, and people were urged to evacuate.

Today, on August 3, Russians struck the bridge again with glide bombs (KABs). According to the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, Yaroslav Shanho, the road surface was damaged. Traffic is currently limited but still possible.

"If you are planning to evacuate, don't delay. We are ready to receive you, help with resettlement, and provide assistance," he said.
