Drones operated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) struck a Russian plant that produces fuel components for Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles, according to RBC-Ukraine's sources in the SBU.

According to the sources, drones from the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center hit an experimental plant in the settlement of Redkino, Tver region.

At this facility, Russia manufactures missile fuel components known as decylin-M for Kh-55 and Kh-101 missiles, as well as fuel additives for diesel fuel and aviation kerosene.

Following successful drone strikes, a large fire broke out at the plant, with a column of black smoke rising above the site. NASA’s FIRMS service, which tracks fires worldwide in real time, recorded active burning on the territory of the facility.

It is worth noting that the Redkino Experimental Plant is under sanctions imposed by the United States, the United Kingdom, and several other countries.

“The SBU continues systematic strikes on key facilities of Russia’s military-industrial complex. The hit plant is an important link in the production of cruise missiles used by Russia to attack Ukraine. Even a temporary shutdown complicates missile fuel production and reduces the enemy’s ability to sustain the intensity of attacks on our cities,” the source said.

SBU strikes on Russian facilities

Earlier, on the night of January 13, the city of Taganrog in Russia’s Rostov region came under a drone attack. Explosions were reported, followed by claims on social media that a facility belonging to Atlant Aero had been hit.

Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed that Ukrainian forces struck a drone manufacturing plant in Taganrog. Explosions and a fire were recorded near the production buildings.

Atlant Aero is reported to provide the full design, production, and testing cycle for Molniya strike-reconnaissance drones, as well as components for Orion drones.

The SBU уточнила that the Taganrog drone plant was struck by the Alpha Special Operations Center together with units of Ukraine’s Naval Forces.

Previously, SBU special forces also carried out a series of successful attacks on Russian airfields, destroying or damaging 15 aircraft. The strikes caused losses exceeding $1 billion and weakened Russia’s ability to carry out attacks on Ukraine.
