On the night of January 13, Ukraine launched missile strikes on a drone manufacturing plant in Taganrog, located in Russia’s Rostov region. A number of additional targets were also hit in temporarily occupied territories, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Strike on the drone plant in Taganrog

According to the military, as part of efforts to reduce the offensive capabilities of the Russian aggressor, Ukrainian units used domestically produced missiles to strike the Atlant Aero enterprise in the city of Taganrog, Rostov region.

Atlant Aero is involved in the full cycle of design, production, and testing of Molniya strike-reconnaissance drones, as well as components for Orion UAVs.

“The destruction of this facility will reduce the enemy’s capacity to produce drones and weaken Russia’s ability to carry out strikes on civilian targets in Ukraine,” the General Staff explained.

Explosions and a fire were recorded in the area of the production buildings. The extent of the damage is being clarified.

Update at 10:37 a.m.

Ukraine’s Security Service clarified that the drone production plant in Taganrog was hit by the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center together with units of the Ukrainian Navy’s joint forces grouping.

The agency emphasized that halting the operation of such facilities directly reduces Russia’s strike capabilities.

“Every production line that is stopped means hundreds of drones that will not fly toward Ukrainian cities, will not kill civilians, and will not destroy homes,” the SBU stressed.

Other strikes

In addition, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck multiple Russian military targets in temporarily occupied territories.

In the occupied Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian forces hit a Tor surface-to-air missile system near the village of Chereshneve, a Tunguska air defense system near Podsporya, a P-18-2 Prima radar station near Lozuvatka, and concentrations of enemy personnel near Liubymivka

In the occupied Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces struck an ammunition depot and troop concentration area near Makiivka, a Tor air defense system near the settlement of Soniachne.

The results of the strikes are still being assessed.

Ukraine’s Defense Forces emphasized that systematic efforts to reduce the offensive and military-economic potential of Russian occupation forces are ongoing.

Attack on Russia’s Taganrog

Earlier, on January 13, the Russian city of Taganrog was attacked by drones. Explosions were reported, and social media posts indicated strikes on the territory of the Atlant Aero facility.

Atlant Aero specializes in producing components for combat drones, control systems, and electronic warfare complexes. Its main developments are linked to Orion drones and FPV UAVs.

This was not the first strike on targets in Taganrog.

In November 2025, Ukrainian forces struck the city, hitting the Beriev Aircraft Company plant, where two experimental Russian military aircraft — the A-60 and A-100LL — were destroyed.

In addition, drones attacked Taganrog in June last year, when local Russian sources also reported explosions and possible hits on the Atlant Aero plant.
