On the morning of January 13, unidentified drones struck the Russian city of Taganrog, hitting a drone manufacturing facility, according to Russian and monitoring Telegram channels.
Reports suggest the attack began around 5 a.m. Kyiv time. Local channels reported that air defense systems were responding to the drones.
Meanwhile, social media posts showed footage of a fire. Monitoring channels indicate that the strike targeted the Atlant Aero enterprise.
A short while later, regional governor Yuriy Slyusar confirmed the attack on Taganrog, though he did not mention the drone manufacturing facility.
In his post at 5:55 a.m., he wrote: "Air defense forces are currently repelling an aerial attack on Taganrog. No information about civilian casualties has been received. Data on ground damage is being clarified. Please exercise extreme caution, follow emergency services’ instructions, stay indoors, and avoid windows."
Later, additional footage of the aftermath of the attack appeared online.
Atlant Aero manufactures components for combat drones, control systems, and electronic warfare (EW) equipment. In particular, the company focuses on the production of Orion drones and FPV unmanned aerial vehicles.
