Ukrainian special forces carried out a series of successful attacks on Russian airfields. As a result, 15 aircraft were destroyed or damaged, causing losses of more than $1 billion to the enemy and weakening strikes against Ukraine, according to Ukraine's Security Service (SBU).
Strikes deep inside enemy territory
Alpha special forces demonstrated the effectiveness of a long-range strike strategy. Five military airfields on Russian territory came under fire.
These facilities were used to base aircraft that terrorize Ukrainian cities with guided aerial bombs and missiles.
Fifteen aircraft were destroyed or damaged. Among them:
- 11 fighters and bombers: Su-30SM, Su-34, Su-27, Su-24, MiG-31;
- 3 helicopters: Mi-28, Mi-26, Mi-8;
- 1 transport aircraft: An-26.
In addition, the enemy suffered large-scale financial losses: the value of the lost equipment and damaged infrastructure exceeded $1 billion.
As noted by the SBU, ammunition storage sites and fuel and lubricants depots were also hit.
Impact on the front and civilian security
Thanks to these attacks, the intensity of Russian aviation use in certain sections of the front has noticeably decreased. Destroying aircraft at their home airfields makes it possible to act preemptively, without waiting for the enemy to take off to launch missiles.
The SBU emphasizes that every successful strike on a Russian airfield means lives saved in Ukraine and enemy plans for new massive attacks disrupted.
The work on demilitarizing Russian airfields continues around the clock.
Over the past year, SBU units have successfully eliminated 311 Russian air defense systems.
The market value of the destroyed equipment exceeds $4 billion.
In addition to destroying equipment, fighters of the SBU Special Operations Center A are carrying out systematic work to eliminate enemy personnel along the entire line of combat contact.
In the last half of December 2025 alone, the efforts of the special forces destroyed more than 3,700 Russian troops.
