During the night of July 2, a powerful explosion rocked an oil refinery in Kstovo, in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region. A fire is raging there, and another important enemy facility is located nearby, ASTRA reports.
This time, Ukrainian drones struck a Russian facility belonging to Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez. The refinery caught fire.
It is one of Russia's leading oil refineries. It is particularly important for supplying the Moscow region.
Its installed primary oil refining capacity is about 17 million tons per year.
It is also known that the facility produces more than 50 types of products, including gasoline, aviation fuel, diesel fuel, petroleum bitumen, paraffins, and more.
The Novogorkovskaya Thermal Power Plant is located near the refinery, but it is not yet known whether the fire could spread there.

This is not the first time the oil facility has come under attack. Ukraine's Defense Forces struck it in April and May 2026.
Earlier, the Defense Forces successfully attacked an oil refinery in Ufa and a military plant in Penza.
It also became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had struck eight of Russia's ten largest oil refineries. Some of them have been hit several times.
Most recently, an oil refinery in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, in Russia's Krasnodar region, came under attack.
