Ukrainian defense companies will launch new joint production projects in Denmark, stated Ukraine's Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.

According to Shmyhal, this initiative is outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding he signed today with Danish officials — Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov, and Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

The memorandum provides for Ukrainian defense companies to start production in Denmark, create joint facilities, exchange technologies, and attract EU funding for joint projects.

"The signing of the Memorandum is a major step toward forming a new security system in Europe and strengthening the defense-industrial capacities of our countries," the minister said.

Shmyhal added that during the war, the jointly produced equipment will support the Ukrainian Defense Forces, while in the long term, Ukrainian security experience and solutions will help strengthen the defense capacities of its allies.

Ukrainian weapons production in Denmark

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian weapons would be manufactured in Denmark. The corresponding agreement was signed in Copenhagen on July 4.

Denmark thus became the first country where Ukraine will export its own defense technologies for production, scaling, and supplying Ukrainian troops.

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen noted that Ukraine will still need to amend its legislation to begin weapons production on Danish territory.

He explained that currently, Ukrainian defense enterprises are unable to relocate their production to another country.
