Ukraine signs historic deal to produce weapons in Europe

Ukrainian weapons will be produced on the territory of Denmark. The corresponding agreement was signed in Copenhagen, according to Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin and the evening address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"A historic agreement signed today paves the way for Ukrainian weapons to be produced in Denmark for the Ukrainian Armed Forces," Smetanin stated.
He noted that Denmark has thus become the first country where Ukraine is exporting its defense technologies for manufacturing, scaling, and supplying equipment to Ukrainian soldiers.
The minister described it as a unique case of international cooperation for Ukraine’s defense industry and thanked Denmark for its significant support of the Ukrainian defense sector.
What Zelenskyy said
The head of the Ukrainian state noted that Ukraine has signed its first weapons production agreement. It involves joint manufacturing between Ukraine and Denmark.
"This is important both from a security standpoint and from an investment perspective," he explained.
Condition for production in Denmark
As a reminder, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen previously stated that for Ukrainian weapons production to begin on Danish territory, Ukraine would first need to amend its legislation.
According to him, Ukrainian defense companies are currently not legally allowed to move their production facilities abroad
