President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has won the war started by Russia because Moscow did not change Kyiv’s course, did not change the flag, and did not occupy the country, according to an interview with the head of state for Fox News.

“Russia could not and can't occupy us. They did't win. And for us, it's a victory. We defended our independence and freedom. We could. They did not change our geopolitical view. They did not change the country. They did not change our flag on their flag. These are such important things. That's why I am proud of it,” the president said.
He expressed confidence that Moscow now truly recognizes that the war it started was a major mistake.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also believes that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin intends to use the negotiation process to advance his offensive goals. According to him, Putin is playing with US President Donald Trump in order to delay any negotiations.
“Putin.. He understands only power. He understands really what pressure means. And that's why I think he chose the polite way how to speak with the Americans. And I think that they play this game. They try to play with president of the United States… He needs to postpone any kind of negotiations,” Zelenskyy added.
What else Zelenskyy said about victory
A few days ago, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave an interview to the BBC.
In this conversation, the head of state also made statements about Ukraine’s victory. He explained that victory is not only about returning all territories, but also about preserving people’s lives and independence.
“I believe that stopping Putin today and preventing him from occupying Ukraine is a victory for the whole world. Because Putin will not stop at Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
Commenting specifically on the issue of territories, he explained that there are different kinds of victories. Zelenskyy is confident that in the future Ukraine will return all its lands, and that will be a victory of justice.
But if Ukraine tries to retake all territories right now, the country will lose millions of people, and land without people is nothing.
By the way, in the same interview, Zelenskyy named two key factors why Ukraine cannot return its territories right now.
