Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia violated the energy ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump, according to Sky News.

“If Russia does not agree to an energy ceasefire during the winter, we will respond,” he said.

“Russian oil refineries were not on fire last night,” the president added.

Instead, Russia struck a Ukrainian power plant and energy facilities, Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy added that Ukrainian skies had been filled with Russian Shahed drones throughout the day and that Russia had also used glide bombs to strike Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Zelenskyy also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin clearly does not read Truth Social.

When Donald Trump announced the “energy ceasefire,” Russian drones were flying over Ukraine.

“It was clear that Putin does not read Truth Social and his Shahed drones follow a different set of instructions. But these posts are actually about something that affects the lives of millions of people, and that makes it very, very important,” the statement said.

Zelenskyy also said Ukraine was ready to sign agreements on ceasefire guarantees. Kyiv is now awaiting details of the talks between the United States and Russia.

“We are waiting for the details of the conversation between the Americans and the Russians, and we are waiting to see what specific steps the Americans are ready to take. This energy ceasefire can work, and it can become a major step toward ending the war. If the Americans truly step in now and make sure Russia respects the energy ceasefire,” the president added.

On October 11, Trump announced an “energy ceasefire” between Ukraine and Russia.

He wrote that both sides had agreed to it but did not specify when it would take effect.

Zelenskyy later said Ukraine supported an energy ceasefire if Moscow genuinely wanted one.

Before that, he had spoken with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

As RBC-Ukraine reported, just hours after Trump’s announcement, Russia struck energy infrastructure in Kharkiv.

Zelenskyy said at the time that Ukraine was ready to refrain from striking Russian energy infrastructure if Russia did the same.
