The Ukrainian delegation has prepared a presentation for US President Donald Trump on the potential use of Tomahawk missiles if they are provided, according to Reuters correspondent Gram Slattery.

According to a senior source, the Ukrainian team prepared the presentation for Trump to show how Tomahawks could be used and how they might affect the course of the war.

Slattery also noted that the announcement of the Budapest summit came as a surprise.

Tomahawks for Ukraine

Yesterday, October 16, Donald Trump made a controversial statement regarding long-range Tomahawk missiles. He said that the United States has many of these missiles, but they are needed for the country itself.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov, Putin said that Tomahawks would not change the situation on the front but would harm Russia–US relations.

Earlier, the US Department of War had developed a plan to sell or transfer long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, should Trump give the green light.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has raised the issue of Tomahawks twice in phone calls with Trump. After the talks, Zelenskyy noted that a final decision on providing the missiles has not yet been made by Trump.

According to Stacie Pettyjohn, director of the defense program at the Center for a New American Security think tank, the US could deliver only 20–50 of these missiles to Ukraine, and they are unlikely to change the dynamics of the war.
