Ukrainian soldiers will receive additional AS-90 self-propelled artillery systems from Britain. The delivery is scheduled for this year, according to a statement from Ukraine's Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov.

According to the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, he met with his British counterpart, John Healey. The main topic of the meeting was steps to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Umerov reminded that Britain provides Ukrainian soldiers with the necessary ammunition: artillery, mortar, air defense, and anti-tank mines. Such timely supplies enable the destruction of the enemy.

"By the end of the year, more AS-90 artillery systems will appear on the front lines. There is also good news regarding long-range weapons and robotic systems — the enemy will feel this on the battlefield," the minister noted.

Umerov shared that he agreed with Healey to work on a list of priority needs that will be financed from frozen Russian assets.

As the Ukrainian minister emphasized, a key issue during the meeting was investments in the Ukrainian defense industry. The current task is to ramp up production in the defense industrial complex.

An additional topic of discussion was the victory plan, with attention focused on the defense aspect.

AS-90 for Ukraine

Britain has already supplied Ukraine with AS-90 howitzers. These artillery systems can strike targets at a distance of up to 30 kilometers, with a maximum rate of fire of three rounds in 10 seconds. The crew of this equipment consists of five members.

On September 26, the British Ministry of Defense revealed plans to deliver 16 additional AS-90s to Ukrainian defenders, with 10 of them already delivered.

At the same time, the ministry assured that six more would be provided to Ukraine by the end of the year.
