Ukraine sanctions Russian Paralympic Committee and Esports Federation: Details revealed

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree imposing new sanctions against Russia on January 17. The restrictions mainly target Russian esports and Paralympic athletes.
The corresponding decree signed by Zelenskyy has already appeared on the website. It states that the Resolution of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated January 17, 2026, "On the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)," is being enacted.
The document says that the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine shall control the implementation of the Resolution enacted by this decree.

Sanction measures applied to the above individuals and organizations include asset freezes, annulment of agreements and contracts, a ban on entering Ukraine, revocation of permits and licenses, removal of Ukrainian state awards, and other restrictions.
On January 17, Zelenskyy announced the signing of a new sanctions resolution targeting individuals who justify Russian aggression and are used by the Kremlin for propaganda purposes.
Previously, in late December 2025, the Ukrainian President announced the preparation of several new sanctions packages against Russian citizens and their partners for supporting the war against Ukraine.
The first sanctions of 2026 were large-scale restrictions against Russians and their accomplices. On January 4, Zelenskyy signed the corresponding decree enacting the Resolution by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine against 95 individuals and 70 legal entities, most of whom were Russian citizens and residents.
