Russia's losses in Ukraine as of September 2: +1,390 troops and 62 artillery systems

Ukraine's Defense Forces continue to inflict losses on Russian troops and military equipment on the battlefield. Here are the latest daily figures for Russian personnel losses, as well as destroyed tanks, armored vehicles, artillery systems, drones, and other military equipment.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to September 2, 2026 are estimated to be:
- Personnel ‒ nearly 1,491,030 (+1,390)
- Tanks ‒ 12,324 (+4)
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,263 (+6)
- Special equipment ‒ 4,625 (+2)
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 142,715 (+383)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,464 (+12)
- Artillery systems ‒ 49,016 (+62)
- MLRS ‒ 2,081 (+2)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,598 (+1)
- Aircraft ‒ 440
- Helicopters ‒ 354
- UAVs (operational-tactical level) ‒ 494,146 (+1,969)

Frontline situation
On August 31 and overnight into September 1, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck several Russian military facilities, from Crimea to Russia's rear regions. In the city of Donetsk and in Hvardiiske, in temporarily occupied Crimea, Ukrainian units struck sites used to store, prepare, and launch attack drones.
Unfortunately, Russia launched a targeted ballistic strike on a railway depot and other railway facilities in Kyiv. As a result of the attack, seven people were killed, six of whom were employees of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways).
