Ukraine's Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting in Kyiv with NATO Senior Representative to Ukraine Patrick Turner and Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, Commander of NSATU and SAG-U, according to Shmyhal's post.
"I thanked them for the consistent dialogue that deepens our Euro-Atlantic integration," he wrote.
The parties summarized the outcomes of the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting at the level of defense ministers, which took place in Brussels earlier this month.
"The event underscored the Alliance’s solidarity with Ukraine and reaffirmed our equal participation in the Council. The partners also reaffirmed their readiness to support the Ministry of Defense in implementing reforms necessary for Euro-Atlantic integration," the minister added.
During the meeting, special attention was also given to the PURL initiative — the procurement of American weapons by NATO countries.
"I thank the United States, NATO, and all the nations that have already joined the initiative. It is important to establish a systematic supply of everything necessary to meet the needs of Ukraine's Defense Forces," Shmyhal emphasized.
PURL program
PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) is a joint US-NATO initiative aimed at accelerating weapons deliveries to Ukraine. Under the program, a priority list of the Armed Forces’ needs is created and sent to allies for rapid funding of procurement.
Partners transfer funds to a special NATO account, after which the US directly supplies weapons according to Ukraine's requests.
In September, it was reported that the administration of President Donald Trump approved the first two packages of military aid to Ukraine under the PURL program.
On October 14, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker announced that new weapon delivery announcements through this mechanism are expected in the coming days.
