Ukraine’s armed forces clarify if Russians entered two towns in Dnipropetrovsk region

Russian forces have entered two settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region and are attempting to gain a foothold there, said Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Dnipro Operational-Strategic Grouping of Troops (OSUV).
Today, the analytical project DeepState claimed that Russian troops had occupied two villages in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
According to the project’s data, as of August 26, Russian forces had taken control of the villages of Zaporizke and Novoheorhiivka.
They are located near the junction of the administrative borders of Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
What the Ukrainian military says
The Dnipro OSUV spokesperson confirmed that the Russian army had entered the Dnipropetrovsk region.
"Yes, the Russians have entered and are trying to entrench themselves. Our forces are fighting to hold their positions," Trehubov said.
Situation at the front
Recently, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the hottest directions in the east remain the Pokrovsk, Dobropillia, and Vuhledar directions.
Over the past three weeks, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have cleared several settlements in the Donetsk region and inflicted significant losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment.
At the same time, Russia has repeatedly claimed alleged advances deeper into the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Earlier, Chief of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Kyrylo Budanov stated that Russian forces were seeking to push 10 kilometers into the Dnipropetrovsk region.
According to him, the enemy’s goal is to create a so-called buffer zone in the area.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military has reported that Russia continues attempts to enter the Dnipropetrovsk region, with fighting now approaching its administrative border.
