Ukraine participates in NATO exercises on countering drones for first time
In the Netherlands, NATO exercises testing drone defense systems are ongoing from September 10 to 20. For the first time, representatives from Ukraine are participating, according to NATO's press service.
It was reported that over 450 participants from 19 NATO member countries, along with representatives from three partner countries, took part in the annual NATO exercises for testing technical interoperability of counter-drone systems (C-UAS TIE).
NATO noted that more than 60 systems and technologies for countering drones were tested in real conditions, including sensors, drone-to-drone targeting systems, jammers, and cyber interceptors.
Ukraine's participation in the exercises is part of the Roadmap for Innovative Cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, which was approved by both sides during the summit in Washington in July 2024.
"Exercises like the C-UAS TIE provide a unique opportunity to address pressing challenges together, such as drone autonomy and interoperability while also learning from Ukraine’s battlefield experience in countering small drones," the Alliance stated.
