Ukraine outlines key terms for ceasefire with Russia

The basis for any potential ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia must include strong security guarantees, according to the Ukrainian president's official website.
"There is a clear position that the basis for any potential ceasefire must include strong security guarantees. In particular, they are considering the possibility of involving mechanisms of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as one of the security guarantees and strengthening the Ukrainian military," the statement reads.
At the same time, the president’s press service emphasized that the start of the ceasefire should begin with the exchange of prisoners and the return of children.
"This step will demonstrate Russia's true intentions regarding peace," the press service added.
Notably, today, March 2, a summit of European leaders took place in London, with Ukraine being the key topic of discussion.
After the summit, Britain announced it would take significant steps to assist Ukraine, including economic sanctions and pressure on Russia. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed plans to create a "coalition of the willing" to support any peace agreement in Ukraine.
Additionally, during the press conference held after the summit, Starmer announced a new deal to assist Ukraine.
He said the deal would allow Ukraine to use £1.6 billion in British export financing to purchase another 5,000 air defense missiles.
