Starmer confirms plans for 'coalition of the willing' to back any peace deal in Ukraine

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has confirmed plans to create a "coalition of the willing" to ensure any peace agreement in Ukraine. The United Kingdom will play a leading role in this coalition, according to The Guardian.
"We will go further develop a coalition that is willing to defend a deal in Ukraine and guarantee peace," Starmer stated.
According to the Prime Minister, not all countries can contribute to the "coalition of the willing." However, he accepts, without criticism, the positions of other states that cannot contribute by sending troops to Ukraine.
"Instead, those willing will intensify planning now with real urgency. The UK is prepared to back this with boots on the ground and planes in the air, together with others," Starmer emphasized.
In addition, the politician mentioned that European leaders at the summit agreed to continue providing military aid and increase economic pressure on Russia. They also stressed that Ukraine must be involved in any peace negotiations.
Military contingent
Earlier, Starmer stated that in the event of any peace agreement, the UK is ready to send a military contingent to Ukraine, which could be supported by air forces.
He also noted that for these efforts to succeed, they must be supported by the United States.
It was previously reported that the UK and France are developing a plan to deploy up to 30,000 European troops in Ukraine. This scenario is possible if a ceasefire agreement is reached.
