Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) carried out a special operation in occupied Crimea on June 24. Air defense systems near Kerch and infrastructure at two military airfields — Saky and Hvardiiske — came under attack, according to the Security Service of Ukraine.

Strike on military airfields

According to preliminary data, four aircraft storage hangars were hit at the Saky military airfield.

Infrastructure at the Hvardiiske airfield was also struck.

In addition, the SBU said the following targets were hit near Kerch:

  • Two weapons units belonging to an S-400 air defense missile system;
  • Two Pantsir-S1 air defense missile and gun systems.

The SBU noted that this was the fourth Pantsir-S1 system hit by its Alpha special operations unit in the area.

"Russian forces are losing control of Crimea's skies. Every destroyed air defense system and every damaged military airfield creates new opportunities for future Ukrainian strikes," the agency said.

Attack on Crimea

As a reminder, the night of June 24 was once again turbulent in Russian-occupied Crimea.

According to reports from the peninsula, the most significant consequences were recorded in Sevastopol, where the Balaklava thermal power plant came under attack.

The strike reportedly caused widespread power outages across the city, prompting occupation authorities to introduce a special operating regime.

Local residents also reported a fire near the village of Shafranne, close to the Hvardiiske military airfield.

The area is associated with facilities used by Russian forces to launch Shahed (Geran) attack drones.

Meanwhile, Russian authorities reported a massive drone attack involving more than 300 UAVs, with nearly 20 regions of the country reportedly targeted.
