Ukraine continues to expand both the intensity and range of its medium- and long-range strike campaign, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Strikes on Russian rear areas have gone deeper
Russian opposition outlet Meduza analyzed the coordinates of Ukrainian strikes against Russian military equipment and logistics based on data from the GeoConfirmed project.
According to the analysis, the average depth of Ukrainian strikes increased significantly in May and June 2026.
Whereas targets were previously hit just a few kilometers from the front line, strikes are now reaching targets located dozens of kilometers behind Russian positions.
Hundreds of attacks on Russian logistics
French OSINT analyst Clément Molin verified at least 500 Ukrainian strikes against Russian trucks and transport vehicles between May 1 and June 18 using video evidence.
In addition, geolocation data confirms 270 such strikes since the beginning of 2026.
According to Meduza, Ukrainian forces were particularly active in attacking rear areas of Russian forces in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors during May.
Sections of the M-14 Rostov-Crimea highway in southwestern Donetsk region and eastern Zaporizhzhia region came under attack.
Focus shifts to Crimea and the Kherson region
In June, the intensity of attacks in those sectors decreased.
At the same time, Meduza notes that Ukrainian forces shifted their focus to the temporarily occupied Kherson region and Crimea.
The campaign of strikes against near-rear areas of Russian forces in the Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Sloviansk sectors also expanded.
According to ISW estimates, Ukrainian forces carried out at least:
-
210 medium-range strikes against occupied territories in May;
-
145 such strikes in June as of today.
The range of Ukrainian drones is also increasing
Analysts also pointed to the expanding capabilities of Ukraine's long-range drones.
On June 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the new Ukrainian Fire Point drones had already struck targets at distances of up to 2,070 kilometers.
According to the president, Ukrainian drones will soon be capable of striking targets at ranges of up to 3,000 kilometers.
More strikes on Russia's oil infrastructure
ISW notes that since March 2026, Ukraine has also increased the scale of its strikes against Russia's oil infrastructure.
According to geolocation data cited by analysts, Ukrainian forces carried out at least:
-
18 strikes against Russian oil facilities in April;
-
33 strikes in May;
-
28 strikes in June as of today.
In recent months, Ukraine has intensified strikes against Russian logistics, fuel, and military infrastructure. Such attacks are already affecting the supply of Russian forces.
Over the weekend, Ukrainian forces carried out a series of large-scale strikes in Crimea, hitting gas facilities, oil terminals, air defense systems, and logistics sites.
Earlier today, the peninsula came under another drone attack. The local authorities suspended traffic on the Kerch Bridge, while satellite images recorded several fires in the areas of Kerch and Port Kavkaz.
Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Oleksandr Pivnenko said that Ukraine will increase the number of drone pilots to carry out more powerful strikes against occupied territories.
According to him, once logistics routes are disrupted, it will become very difficult for the enemy.
