Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held a phone conversation with the newly appointed UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, according to Sybiha’s X account.

“I truly appreciate my colleague’s first call to Ukraine - we take it as a sign of respect and priority in sustaining the UK’s unwavering support,” he wrote.

Sybiha thanked the UK Foreign Secretary for her genuine personal solidarity with Ukraine in her previous positions, as well as for the United Kingdom’s commitment.

“Together, we are defending our shared values of freedom, independence, and humanity. I look forward to working together to advance our excellent strategic partnership and strengthen all of Europe,” Sybiha concluded.

The UK provides strong support to Ukraine. In particular, on September 4, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer addressed the Coalition of the Willing during a meeting, stating that they have given Ukraine an unshakable promise.

According to Starmer, some unnamed countries within the Coalition of the Willing have also agreed to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles amid Russia’s massive attacks on civilian targets and infrastructure.

In addition, the UK government has extended the Ukraine Permission Extension program for a further 24 months to protect Ukrainians.
