UK Prime Minister says about ‘unbreakable pledge to Ukraine,’ warning against trusting Putin

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during today's meeting, addressed the Coalition of the Willing members, stating that they had given Ukraine an “unbreakable pledge,” Sky News reports.
Speaking via video link, Starmer warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot be trusted, and that the Kremlin leader is deliberately stalling peace negotiations to continue striking Ukraine.
“That was further underlined by the indiscriminate attacks in Kyiv last week, causing significant damage to the British Council and EU delegation buildings,” said the UK government Spokesperson.
According to him, Starmer also stated that the allies had given Ukraine an “unbreakable pledge.”
“The Prime Minister emphasised that the group had an unbreakable pledge to Ukraine, with President Trump's backing, and it was clear they now needed to go even further to apply pressure on Putin to secure a cessation of hostilities,” the Spokesperson added.
Starmer also welcomed new announcements from some of Ukraine’s partners regarding the delivery of long-range missiles to Kyiv.
Coalition of the Willing meeting
Today, September 4, a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in support of Ukraine took place in Paris, held at the Élysée Palace.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also took part in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak reported that together with Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, he held a number of bilateral meetings.
According to Yermak, the discussions in Paris included security guarantees for Ukraine, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and the return of prisoners of war.
In addition, among the proposals from Ukraine’s partners in the coalition were the creation of a “no-fly zone” and a patrol mission in the Black Sea.
Furthermore, the European leaders are also expected to hold a phone call with US President Donald Trump, during which they plan to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine.
